Frequently asked questions

  • Where are the Rules and FAQs? https://alaskaseafoodprocessors.com/index.php?view=rules_and_faqs
  • How do I report a post to Facebook group admins? http://www.alaskaseafoodprocessors.com/index.php?view=facebook_report_post
  • Facebook group rules

Do not ask people to contact you privately

  • COMPANY RECRUITERS WHO HAVE BEEN VERIFIED BY ALASKA SEAFOOD PROCESSORS ADMIN ARE EXEMPT FROM THIS RULE AND MAY ASK PEOPLE TO CONTACT THEM PRIVATELY. Verified company recruiters are awarded the "Group Expert" badge. When interacting with company recruiters, you are expected to show respect and behave professionally. If you harass or behave negatively toward recruiters or the company they represent, you will be immediately removed from the group!
  • Only links to official company websites, social media, or contact information are allowed. Most importantly, this is to protect people from scammers and those attempting to act as middlemen who are trying to rack up referral bonuses. If you're interested in a job, apply via the company's website or a job search site, such as Indeed.
  • Keep negative opinions to yourself

  • Avoid speaking negatively about companies, management, coworkers, or others. We've all had bosses and coworkers we didn't like, if you work in the seafood processing industry, you must learn to figure it out or go home. Just because you don't like a company doesn't mean that others feel the same. Nobody wants to listen to someone who is attacking a company they are proud to work for. If you need to share negative opinions, post them in other Facebook groups or on sites like Indeed or LinkedIn.
  • That being said, you are allowed to make objectively true statements, such as "It's a long taxi ride to the grocery store," "There's no cell service in the area," "There's no pharmacy in town," or "This company doesn't offer a 401(k) or health insurance." The last thing I need is to get dragged into the human resources office because someone in this group is running their mouth too much.

Leave moderation to this group's management

  • If someone is doing something you don't like or you think they may be breaking the rules, please don't confront them. People dislike being called out, which can quickly lead to a conflict. Instead of commenting, use Facebook's "Report post to group admins" option or report it through the Alaska Seafood Processors contact page.
  • Politics, activism, and other related topics are not allowed

  • This group is for discussion seafood processing jobs in Alaska. Occasional off-topic conversation is okay, as long as it doesn't cause problems. Politics, activism, and similar topics create a toxic community that drives away members and visitors. Also, I am generally a very busy person, and the last thing I want is to deal with Facebook drama in my free time, and others feel the same way.
  • This group is for individuals who already have legal authorization to work in the United States

  • All H-2B questions must be asked in the comments of the featured post. Any questions posted elsewhere will be deleted. Please understand that it is unlikely anyone here will be able to provide detailed assistance. Remember, people asking about work visas are simply trying to earn a paycheck, just like the rest of us. Please be polite.
